Paperwork Submission

  1. Your sales representative will finish additional paperwork and submit to our office for further processing.

  2. We will call you within 3 business days to schedule formal re-measurements. Please contact us if you have not heard from us by the end of the 3rd business day.

  3. If you have an HOA, please proceed with obtaining HOA approval. If you need any documents or info from us, please email us at info@mywindowanddoorguy.com. Be sure to send us a copy of the HOA approval once you obtain it.

  4. Deposit - If you're paying the deposit via credit card, we will email you a link to make payment. If you're paying the deposit via check, you can give it to the measure technician when he comes for the re-measurement appointment.

  5. To avoid calls, texts, and emails from being filtered to spam, we recommend importing our contact information into your phone by clicking here.

  6. Going forward - it is best to communicate directly with our office regarding your order. We keep our sales representatives busy working with new prospective homeowners, and therefore are not well suited to answer questions regarding status updates, etc. Our office is the best place to contact as we have real-time access to any and all information related to your project status.

Re-Measure Appointment Preparation

1. Our office will call within 3 business days to schedule an appointment to re-measure the openings.

2. An adult must be present, and we will need access to the interior.

3. If any obstructions are in front of the windows and/or doors, we request they be moved so we can access the openings. If you need assistance moving any items, we can assist.

4. The measure tech will review the product specification sheet with you for ordering purposes. If there are any changes to your order, they must be done so before the measure tech leaves.

5. If you have not made a deposit and are doing so by check, the measure tech will pick it up during this appointment.

6. If you have plantation blinds, the measure tech will inform you which ones need to be removed prior to the window and door installation.

Pre-Installation Preparation

You should plan for installation to take place in 10-12 weeks from your agreement sign date. In the meantime, the following are important items you should be aware of:

Utility Company Rebates

Some utility companies provide rebates for replacing your old, outdated windows and doors with new, energy efficient ones. Some utility companies require an inspection BEFORE INSTALLATION in order to qualify.

Please contact your utility company NOW to see if they offer rebates. You can read more about rebates on this webpage.

Blinds and Plantation Shutters

It is the homeowner's responsibility to remove and re-install the blinds covering windows and/or doors that are to be replaced. If our installation team has to take them down, we will not be held responsible for any damages.

If you have planation shutters, the measure technician will let you know whether they need to be removed prior to installation. My Window and Door Guy will NOT remove planation shutters.

Alarm Systems

If you have alarm systems connected to your windows and doors, we recommend you contact them to let them know you're having windows and doors replaced, and what steps you may need to take.

Note: Our installation team will remove alarm attachments to the windows and doors, but we will NOT replace them after your new windows/doors are installed. We find it is better for the alarm company instead of window installers to re-attach any alarm attachments.

Furniture | Obstacles

Generally speaking, we will need unobstructed access to the windows and doors to be replaced. We ask you to move furniture or other obstacles at least 3-5 feet away from the openings prior to our installation team's arrival.

Please let us know before hand if you need assistance to move heavy items.

Other Home Improvements

Please let us know if you are having any other home improvement projects scheduled between now and your window/door installation date. Wait until after your windows and doors are installed if you are painting.

Generally speaking it is best to wait until your windows and doors are installed before the additional projects begin. Let our office know if we need to coordinate with other contractors.

Post-Installation Checklist

Once our installation team has finished installing your new windows, there's a few more items needed to complete your project.

Once installation is completed, our installers will ask for the balance of the project to be paid.

If you are financing your project, there will be a form for you to sign off on that we will submit to the finance company to get paid. This starts your term period, with the first payment due approximately 30 days later.

Project Balance

There will be some items left behind in your home by our installation team that we refer to as "caps and covers". These cover up the fasteners used to secure your windows/doors.

Once the building inspector finishes their inspection, we will contact you to schedule a time to come out to install these caps and covers for you.

"Caps and Covers"

Our office will contact you within 3 business days from your installation completion date to coordinate scheduling the building inspector coming to your home to inspect that the installation meets building code requirements.

You should anticipate being available at home from 9-5 for this day.

Inspection

Most manufacturer's require paperwork to be submitted in order to activate your warranty.

My Window and Door guy will handle submitting the paperwork on your behalf, and you should receive confirmation from the manufacturer approximately 4-6 weeks after the installation is complete.

Don't forget - you're also backed by My Window and Door Guy's warranty as well.

Warranty Submission

If you opted for any additional services like painting, staining, window trim, window treatments, window cleaning, etc., our office will coordinate with you after your installation is complete.

Additional Appointments

For small, local businesses like My Window and Door Guy, online reviews are extremely helpful. We would be honored if you leave us a Google review after your installation.

Review Request

Nothing is more of an honor than one of our homeowners referring us to their friends, neighbors, family members, and/or co-workers.

We believe you, and the people you're referring to us, should receive some compensation for allowing us to help them out with their project.
